What is Telex release?

A telex release is the carrier's electronic instruction to its destination agent to hand the cargo to the consignee without presentation of an original Bill of Lading. It removes the courier delay and cost of paper bills, which is why it is standard wherever no letter of credit demands originals. Agree it with the shipper before sailing and confirm the consignee details in writing — once released, the goods go to whoever is named.
