What is Sea freight?

Sea freight carries the overwhelming majority of world trade in standard containers, priced per box (FCL) or per cubic metre (LCL) rather than by weight. Transit from China runs roughly three to six weeks depending on destination, plus a week or two for booking, customs and delivery at each end. Plan stock around the full door-to-door calendar, not the port-to-port sailing time the forwarder quotes, and the apparent slowness becomes predictable working capital instead of a surprise stockout.
