Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) means the factory owns the design and tooling; you select from its catalogue and brand the product as yours, sometimes with small modifications. It is the fastest and cheapest path to a differentiated range, because development cost is shared across the factory's customers. The trade-off is exclusivity — competitors can buy the same shell — so confirm in writing what is customised, who owns the tooling for your changes, and whether the design is sold to others in your market.
