What is Customs clearance?
Customs clearance is the formal process of declaring imported goods, paying any duty and VAT, and getting the release that lets the container leave the port. It needs accurate paperwork β commercial invoice, packing list, Bill of Lading and any certificates β because a wrong HS code or undervalued invoice triggers holds, inspections and storage fees that grow daily. Most importers clear through a broker or forwarder; the clearance cost is small, but the cost of getting it wrong is not.
